Mary Beth and I did our Fresh Market grocery run during my lunch break. It was a little later than usual because I was in a barrage of all-hands meetings. Ooh, which reminds me. During the first (the it town hall), some guy starts playing Mighty Mighty Bosstones over the call before it begins. Then Zach and I both messaged each other at the same time all, what the hell is up with this!? I muted my audio and waited to unmute until I could see heads in the chat move from nodding to lips moving. After work Mary Beth and I took a walk. I got a cd in the mail: Maryanne Amacher: Sound Characters (Making the Third Ear), which I'd gotten from another gift card for doing another survey (woo! ...for FastTrack, the old Java bootcamp thing I went through). At night Mary Beth was playing for me bits from the audiobook of Johnny Marr's autobiography. He narrates it himself. A couple bits I'd like to relate now. The rhythm guitar on "The Queen Is Dead" was modeled on "I Can't Stand It" by The Velvet Underground (which had finally just been released at the time). It blew my mind just a little bit because I never would have thought of that if I hadn't been told, but once you hear it it totally clicks and makes sense! The other is that he has this small Dennis Hopper story and he does a Dennis Hopper impersonation. Fun stuff!
