Mary Beth and I took another walk yesterday and it was almost kinda warm (in the sun when the wind wasn't blowing). In Duolingo, I finished (again) the stories, now just a few more lessons left. At night Mary Beth and I watched The Gospel of Eureka documentary about Eureka, AR and the coexistence in that little town of a queer community as well as a big rural evangelical spectacle. When I was a kid, my grandmother took me and my sister there on a trip and we did the whole Christ of the Ozarks and The Great Passion Play thing. So it was interesting to watch the documentary from that perspective and rejog my memory about some of that stuff. The Christ of the Ozarks statue looked cheaper and goofier than I'd remembered. I didn't remember that all the dialog in the play is prerecorded but that makes sense. While watching the movie, I was wondering if it's the same recording that I heard back then. I also never knew that the whole thing was created by a retired Nazi-sympathizer of a preacher, which is not surprising at all in the slightest. Then later I finished reading The Eternal Smile by Pär Lagerkvist and it was good. Okay, now back to the work week.
