Been a fun few days. We kept power when everyone lost theirs after the storm late Wednesday night but then lost it after a lot of people (but not everyone) had started getting their power back on, three days into it all. So I'll start with the daytime on Saturday. Probably not a whole lot. Mary Beth and I went for a walk on Saturday afternoon. It was as all the ice was still melting off the trees, showering of bits of "crushed" ice. A few blocks over we saw a house that got smashed by a large tree falling on it. The small porch was totally destroyed, half the roof/attic looked completely smashed in. Hopefully it didn't look as bad as it could have been, but still, it looked really bad. Hopefully everyone was okay. Then we lose our power a little after 9 pm or so. It stays off until about 7:30 last night. We made due. We brought out the big blanket and that kept us warm. At a point in the afternoon yesterday we were out on the back deck where it was warmer outside in the sun and Mary Beth had just gotten a box of modeling clay delivered and we spent a little while making sculptures. I made a really shitty turtle. Mary Beth made a cat which she scrapped into a squirrel, then when I went in she made a tree and a horse. (She's much better at it than I am!) At night we were just settling into bed to have an album listening of Flaming Tunes on the battery-powered boom box when the power came back on! Gareth Williams and Mary Currie looking out for us! Well, now it's a workday and I was worried for a bit I'd have to pack in and go to the office to work but nope, here I am working from home so that's good!
