Yesterday I was able to finish recording the Virginia Woolf pieces onto four-track tape for my upcoming performance, this time sections of To the Lighthouse and Mrs. Dalloway. The former earlier in the afternoon and the latter at night. I kept drinking water pretty well during the process so mostly avoided getting the headaches I've tended to from reading aloud so much. Also, Mary Beth and I took a walk in between (as well as dinner and a drive). I ended up second place in Duolingo this week, which I'm kind of annoyed about. Well, I haven't been much trying or caring about the placing and all that but I was in a relatively slow group and after just doing my regular lessons as I would have, I ended up at or towards the top and was like, ooh I could get first place again. So I did a bunch of stories to keep the place and was there until a couple hours towards the end the next person started to creep up. Well, I kept up doing the stories. Finally with fifteen minutes left, I saw I was like two hundred points ahead so, "no way they can catch up now" and I stopped. Then after a few minutes I saw they had shot ahead so I had to spend the last few minutes to keep my place but they'd won out by just a few points. I was annoyed, I mean, I could have saved those stories for another time or whatever and I could have kept second place without doing anything, oh well.
