The Good, The Bad, and The Icy
Feb. 20th, 2021 10:14 amThe Good: The show was really great. It went well and smoothly (for the most part) with very little in the way of hangups. And sound was good and all. Very happy with the way my server worked. We did a connection test a little before and everything was good. I'd earlier in the day gotten a message from Kole (Pas Moi) that they weren't going to be able to get to where they had the hookup to do the streaming due to the snow and ice, but shortly after that they managed to find someone. So later in the afternoon we were able to do a signal test. A that time I was having a spotty connection on my end and it was hanging up a bit. After that I restarted my modem and tested again and it was back to running smoothly. The set order was Ihcilon, Pas Moi, Stupid Lepton, Belly Full of Stars, and Revenge Body. Everyone was great! It was a great show. I'm definitely encouraged for the future. Some things to work out with the website and and minor things with the server, but the basic framework seems to be going pretty solidly.
The Bad (and The Icy): As we were going to bed, Mary Beth commented on still hearing what sounds like water flowing. This has been an ongoing thing, faintly in the background here and there, but the sound was located near and blended with icicles and snow melting and flowing down the roof and side of the house. Now, late at night and below freezing, there was no melting. It wasn't as loud as the rush of the original burst pipe I'd stopped. I finally found it by pulling back one of the panels that goes to that walled in part under the house closer to the main water line. I could see a pipe leaking in there, not as bad as the original, flood-inducing one, but still a steady flow. I tried all of the valves in the basement but none would stop it, so I figured it was something coming off the main. So I called MLG&W and over the night someone came and shut off the main valve. So now we don't have any water. Mary Beth went out onto the deck and gathered snow into buckets. Oh yeah, the plumber did come yesterday afternoon and said he'd be coming back today if he the supplier was open and he could get parts. So this new development is just added to the list. I let him and the landlord know of the development and that we don't have any water now so hopefully he'll be able to get it fixed soon. Anyway, we're in a bit of survivalist mode. I'm preparing to settle into that not-showered feeling (my scalp just gets itchy when I'm not showered so it's pretty much always something I don't even consider not doing, but it's only a minor inconvenience in the way of things).
