Mary Beth and I picked up some India Palace for lunch yesterday and we feasted! Seriously, we didn't even eat again the rest of the day (I guess Indian can have that effect). I called back about my car and that shop doesn't have the equipment to be able to make the repair. They recommend sending it to the dealership. It's sounding like it could be quite expensive. Not sure if we're going to bother with it. Going to look into some stuff today. Mary Beth and I played some more Jaipur last night. I got a cd in the mail: Paul Beaver & Bernard L. Krause: The Nonesuch Guide to Electronic Music.
Now here's a couple things I neglected to mention before. So, I'd worked on this little program to assist in composition that would randomly give me a random time duration and a random selection of modules based on some weighted probabilities and parameters and such. Had some issues but finally got it working and tweaked to where I want it. I had to write the function for the weighting myself so a bit of time was spent tweaking it. All in all a pretty simple thing, but it should be fun and maybe I can do something with it. I ended up significantly changing the number of modules it would use. My original intent was to have these simple little patches, but I found the fewer modules I have, the more likely it is I get a random group that doesn't really work together. I mean, I like the possibility of being forced to be creative and using things in their not-obvious ways, but there are a few modules that, if put together, literally couldn't make any sound or do anything (for a worse case example, like if I had three clock-driven sequencers and no clock and nothing for them to modulate...maybe if I have a feedback loop something weird could happen with it...I dunno...maybe I'll have to experiment with that just to see if something could happen, but anyway, I upped the number of modules in the range as well as the probabilistic center, these can still be simple patches, but it makes duds less likely). Also, I reached a 200 day streak in Duolingo two days ago. That's great, but an annoying thing happened. I got the hearts functionality rolled out to my phone. Apparently some people have had it longer. Well, now I finally understand how it works and I'm extremely annoyed by it. If I'd had it from the beginning I probably would have given up working on Duolingo. I've liked how non-punitive it is, but this is a straight up punitive system. I've been playing so long I just have a ton of unused lingots (now gems) saved up so it probably ultimate won't have too much effect on me. But still the looming thought of making an error has this low-key stress sensation lingering over everything that wasn't there before.
