The Horse Race

Obviously a crazy and stressful past twenty-four hours. I had a one-on-one with my manager and since it was election day we ended up talking about everything. At least he's on the same page. I thought he would be but you never bring it up because you just don't know (I definitely didn't seek to bring it up yesterday, but it did come up). Anyway, that was some catharsis. Mary Beth and I watched Unfaithfully Yours to while away the time and keep from checking the internet. It was good. I really liked the use of realtime music in the daydream sequences (where the music continuing is the eventual clue that what's unfolding isn't actually happening). And there was some fun stuff with the gags on murder/suspense movies being so complex and orchestrated like clockwork, when in reality things don't go off like that. And the record speed (and feedback) gags were near to my heart. I ended up actually going to bed early, which is good! I did wake up like two and half hours early, trying to fall back asleep but not really being successful. I didn't get up and check the internet or anything either. And very glad I didn't stay up at all given my fb feed when I did wake up. There were lots of eight-hours-ago posts with lots of people just freaking out. Then I was seeing the two-hours-ago posts with a take of, actually Biden is in a good position right now (though definitely not for sure). So yeah, the horse race is back on. I ended up breaking down crying a couple times this morning, not really sure. From reading about how close it is (I mean, I knew it was close when I went to bed), but...I don't know. Just the continuing stress of it all maybe. It's, of course, absurd that it's anything at all close given just absolutely fucking everything, but here we are. I'm still hopeful with a shit-ton of trepidation. I mean, I don't guess there's much point in going on and on about it, just gotta wait and see right now.
