Disqualified as a Human Being
Nov. 21st, 2019 05:28 pmLast night Mary Beth and I walked up to Studio on the Square to watch the Indie Memphis screening of Celebration, a documentary about Yves Saint Laurent's last show. It had apparently been suppressed when it was first screened over 10 years ago 'cuz it's not super-flattering. I mean, it's not narrative at all. It just shows a bunch of scenes in a more observational style. The audience was not into it at all. It had a fucking great score (which was probably what they were into the least): very spare, minimal, feedbacky, electronic, sometimes rhythm-based but even then pretty abstract. Oh, and last night before we went I finished reading No Longer Human by Osamu Dazai. It was a really good book. Then there was work today. We had a team lunch at The Nine and Thai. I'd never been there, it was pretty fine. That's about it for now.
