Street Fog

ateolf: (MEEEEEEERY CHRIIIIIIIISTMAS HAHAHAHA!!!!)
Had the first Memphis Concrète "meeting" in a while...okay it was just me and Jacques. Knew Chris couldn't make it 'cuz of work but thought Amy would be there, that's why we scheduled it for Friday, but then didn't hear anything. And just a few hours before Luís quit via text so that's a bummer. I guess not a surprise considering how disgruntled he was after the last one and that he lost some money. I mean, it wasn't super productive as a meeting goes of course but we talked a while, a bit about the festival and more about random bullshit. Then I saw him again a little later at a show. It was the first time I've been to Pagan Mom House. As the name implies, it's a house and they do house shows there. Nonconnah was supposed to play (I wasn't playing with him or anything this time) but he backed out. On the plus side it made for a relatively short show. First was Cel Shade who I'd never seen but he was quite good. I'd describe it as video game music warped and twisted through dj gear. A little more metaphorically as a demon chewing up and spitting out video game music. And to keep the demon theme, he wore a light-up cartoonish demon mask. So next and last was Street Sects. They once again put on a pretty incredible live experience. I wasn't sure how much of that stage show they'd have given this was in a small backroom in a house, but they had the fog machine on full blast and the blindingly bright strobes. And given it was such a small room they really fucking laid some heavy fog down. I mean, it had staying power and just filled the room with a solid white where you couldn't see anything. And with the strobes going from pure dark to pure white. You could barely even see the singer's silhouette except when he was getting right in your face (and I got a bit of spittle sprayed on me a couple times). There was no chainsaw this time. There was a decent crown, I guess they've got a solid fanbase, it was mostly this group of teens (maybe barely in their twenties but pretty young). They played a pretty short set this time, but it was good. Then leaving I find the fog had filled the whole house. Went outside and as it gradually started to dissipate there were clouds of it wafting down the street. Pretty funny. Now I'm up early. Had to wake up early anyway 'cuz I'm going to help my dad with something but ended up waking up even a bit before that and not being able to get back to sleep for a little more rest. Ah well.
