Out Again

I went up to a show at Two Rivers last night. It was some touring musicians from Georgia. First was Chris Lott. He played piano in kind of a style that's somewhere between Bill Evans and Philip Glass (not quite at either, though much closer to Evans). It was really good. Next was Michael Potter playing (mostly) acoustic guitar through pedals (mostly looping and delays though others now and again). It was mostly folk-based, layered, though there were occasional freak-outs. It was pretty good. I'll also add that there was a clown in between musicians. She'd set up a small tower of rickety footstools and had some flimsy tape strung across she kept acting she was about to "tightrope" walk on. This was heightened by having been there earlier when she was trying to set up and at first she was in one room and knocked a small bookcase over with much crashing. At least she didn't knock herself over when she was up there. Last was Nonconnah. David was playing with Zachary, doing an electronic drum. It made things quite different. It was very tribal and rhythmic. Also, David's amp was louder than Zachary's so it almost drowned out the guitar on top of all that. Heather let me borrow this cassette player to see if I want it to test it out if it works and all. Then there was work today. Something I thought was going to happened and I was in anticipation of happening didn't happen, but we'll see.
