I changed the battery on Mary Beth's car yesterday. It needed to be replaced and that fixed it. I must say, they make it overly convoluted to unmount it on those damn Kias, at least that model. In a snatch of time, I managed to rerecord the vocals of the reading of the story, but I didn't have time to even really listen back to it so I'm not sure if it sounds okay or is usable or anything yet. I plan on using the live modular recording, but always planned on redoing the vocals in a more controlled environment as it's impossible to make it all the way through without some mistakes. And I'm not getting a great mic setup doing it live anyway. But we'll see. Also went up to Artemisia a little early for the show. They needed some equipment (they didn't use). Oh yeah, I spent a good part of the morning "running around" on texts and facebook trying to help find a pa due to the haphazard way this show came together (nothing was verified from her manager or whoever until like a week before the show so then Chris was scrambling). As I was saying, I brought the mixer up that wasn't used then headed back home for dinner. Came back still a little early for the show to make sure things were getting set up okay. Anika was not happy during her soundcheck. Everything was kinda cobbled together (at least this time I wasn't doing the cobbling or checking!). But it was okay, she did the show. Hung around a while taking to people. Charlie had some really entertaining stories about the one time he was like a tour manager/promoter and was driving Richard Pinhas around and how extremely difficult he is. Outside Source was first with a good set. Anika played a good set. The first thing she did when she started was get right up in my face and stand there singing for an extended moment. She closed with a cover of Yoko Ono's "Yang Yang" so that was cool. Not a lot of sleep last night but work was alright. I came home to a giant, awkwardly shaped boxed set in the mail: Controlled Bleeding: Blistered Bags of Fodder Swaying: Works : 1980s.

Couple things I missed mentioning earlier. Found out this weekend that Marcus, our seafood(/meat) guy at TFM isn't working there anymore. We're not the types to usually chat with people, but he was very friendly and took a shining to us and was always a nice break to the monotony of grocery shopping. He will be missed! Also, I blew the closet light out. It's been dangling from a wire for, uh, a few years or so and finally that wire frayed and must have shorted where it was exposed when I pulled the cord and I got a nice bit of sparks and a flip of the circuit breaker. I just taped it up so now it's a lightless closet. Handiwork.
