I exercised again yesterday afternoon but my stomach was repeating the sensations of the day before. That seems to be behind me today, at least. In the evening Mary Beth and I went up to Crosstown for the Indie Memphis screening of Personal Problems. I didn't know what to expect but it was a pretty interesting experience. It was good, but not the easiest thing to watch. The whole thing was shot in video in 1980 on a very low budget. Of course, video always looks really bad but there are parts where they actually get very nice imagery, in its way. The sound is terrible and much of the difficulty is stretches where it's difficult to make out dialog. It was restored recently and after the restoration, Ishmael Reed actually said that it was the first time he could make out any of the dialog while watching it. The acting is very good. After a while the story and progress of the film kinda sucks you into a hypnotic state. Oh, it's also very long. It's a two part thing and it's the length of two movies. A lot of it reminds me of Cassavetes or Altman or new wave in general. So that was most of the night. Then there was work today and now I'm home and stuff and there you have it.
