Yeah, did more work on that issue at home last night. Then more today. Talked to more people and tried to get more ideas. Once again thinking I'm going somewhere, then ending up going in a circle. Finally in the afternoon I talked to some architects who'd had trouble with this previously and got some more advice. Tried something and was sure it was going somewhere but it didn't. So now I'm going forward with the back-up advice and just deleting the referenced package that's causing problems and simply copying the needed file over into my own project. The hack wins! I'm still in the process of getting the dependencies lined up but I'm finally feeling good about this whole thing. I mean, reservedly. I know all too well the futility of hope by now. It's definitely a "bad practice" sort of thing, but when the right way is broken beyond repair... Yeah, so what looks like was happening was I was stuck inside a Kafkaesque entanglement, a finely netted web of contradictions. Dependencies depending on dependencies that depend on adverse versions of the same dependency. So I think I was trying to make something work that just could not work. Or maybe it could be finagled to work if I knew in detail the entire miasma of warring dependencies. So I've spent long enough on it. Proceed with the copy and paste!
