Yesterday I worked on recording a new part for that Nonconnah song. I went much more minimal with just a drone with unfolding layers. I think that worked better. I'll probably turn my other attempt into a thing and also maybe with all my unused takes and practice stuff from yesterday's attempt. Later Mary Beth and I went up to Overton Park. She walked and I brought my bicycle along. It's been a while since I've been able to do that. It was a bit warmer yesterday, definitely in the sun. Riding in the park is mostly in the shade so it was a little cool but not bad, but it's this thing where you end up getting both hot and cold at the same time. You're being active and working up a bit of a sweat and getting hot from the activity but then the air's a bit cool. Anyway, I'm glad I did it and I definitely felt it. Later in the evening Mary Beth decided to investigate the situation Under-The-Sink in the kitchen. Yeah, the drain's been leaking badly for a long time and it's flooded and rotted the cabinet and probably the floor underneath. It was hard to catch 'cuz it was hidden away inside the cabinet and underneath the stuff in the cabinet. It does explain why cleaning the drain didn't take care of the sink flies (back when it was still warm). The water was not staying in the drain! Talked to the landlord so hopefully we'll at least get the plumbing issue fixed soon. Then we went out to the Poptone show at the New Daisy. I only ended up going 'cuz the ticket prices got lowered so cheap. I've never really listened to Tones on Tail or Love and Rockets (Poptone is Daniel Ash and Kevin Haskins and Kevin's daughter). But I was into just about everything they played so I'll have to check out more of their stuff (I know I've liked some stuff I've heard from the first Love and Rockets album but not anything else). There were not many people in the crowd which was kinda sad, but it was a good show. I even got a shirt. They played one Bauhaus song in the second encore ("Slice of Life" which made me realize how long it's been since I've listened to Burning from the Inside). The opener was Geneva Jacuzzi. Her set was definitely goofy, not necessarily all in a bad way. She did a sexy robot goth performance art kinda thing. She did most of her set inside a giant inflated plastic ball. All the music was pre-recorded, kind've kitchy goth synth pop. She wore tights and did lots of moves and stuff. For one song she left the stage and came out among the audience and made us form walls on two sides. What else? There was work today and it's a little stressful knowing how close we are to the end of the pi. Hopefully we can get some of this junk done! Very close. But there's a lot to be tested... Oh yeah! I almost forgot to mention the cd I got in the mail: Diggin in the Carts: a Collection of Pioneering Japanese Video Game Music. I think it's all stuff from the Sega Genesis. Anyway, yeah, nerd-out time!
