Favorite Sweater
Dec. 18th, 2015 06:07 pmLast night Mary Beth went up to Crosstown Arts/Storybook to watch a collection of short local film things they called Memphis Ephemera. All stuff that hadn't been shown before (or in a really long time). A lot of it was really good. There was a longerish promotion film for the city of Memphis from like the 60s or 70s that was pretty cool. A couple commercial I remember from my childhood (especially the Angel Food ice cream one). There was that video of Tav Falco on that local talk show that I've seen before but never ceases to be incredible (just how angry the host gets is a real treat). I especially liked the older stuff, but a few of the newer things were good as well.
There was an ugly Christmas sweater contest at work today. I didn't participate since I don't really own any sweaters (just like two regular ones), but I ended up being a judge so that was fun. We made up a rubric on the fly. Came home and I've got this cd in the mail: Allen Ravenstine: The Pharoah's Bee. I ordered it months ago not realizing it wasn't getting released til December. That's okay. It's limited to 1000 copies (which is why I jumped on it) and I ended up with #3. That's like the earliest of anything I've ever gotten. Also, they accidentally threw in an extra signed number card.
