Anime and Junk Food and Rock and Roll
Dec. 13th, 2015 11:12 amWent up to work yesterday for the day of anime and junk food all afternoon and evening. Bunch of coworkers there. We got one of the big ass screens from one of the conference rooms wheeled out and watched shit on it. For eight hours I mostly subsisted on potato chips and cheetos and coke. I was gettin' that wired up bloodstream turning into pure sugar and carbs jittery feeling. Stephen's wife did make these bento boxes with some rice balls and soyed eggs and pickled cabbage and dumplings and little cheesecake thingies. That was really good. Aside from that though, potato chips cheetos and coke. First we watched a coupe episodes of Sword Art Online and it was okay. The main meat of the night was watching One Punch Man...which was fucking incredible. It's sort of an absurdist semi-parody of anime action stuff built around existential anti-climaxes. My synopsis is kinda dumb but it was pretty awesome and funny. Throughout the night we watched most of it (actually when I left Stephen and John were watching the last (most recent) episode, it's currently on its first season which is still in progress). I also made everyone watch House, which I think went over pretty well. We watched some short things, a lot of which weren't funny but we also watched Kung Fury which I'd seen before and enjoy. So I left around 9:30 and went and got Mary Beth and we went up to Bar DKDC to see the Nots show. It was a little tricky 'cuz online three different times had been posted in different places: 9, 10, and 11. Well, we got there at 10 and the band started playing just after 11:30 (there were a couple djs before and after but I'm not sure what time they started and doesn't really matter that much). We sat outside 'cuz it was packed (and so I could save the $5 to get merch afterwards). They were good, I enjoyed them as usual, but Mary Beth wasn't into the waiting scene. Afterwards I got a t-shirt (they'd just come back from a big European tour so the shirt mentions this European tour). Got to sleep late but I still slept in a little today (alarm didn't go off, but I guess I didn't get up MUCH later than it was set for). Okay, we're about up to date.
