Gettin' Ready

I got my Santa Thing books in the mail on Saturday (still a shame that I fucked it up this year and didn't even pick anything for my santee). But I got: Perdido Street Station by China Miéville, Hopscotch by Julio Cortázar, and Maidenhair by Mikhail Shishkin. So eventually getting to read them will be exciting. (I feel even though I'm reading more now that I'm not teaching, I'm not progressing much 'cuz the book I'm currently reading is so long...it's great, but it is long.) Shawna's birthday party was Saturday night and I ended up going to that for a little bit after work. Was really tired after having been up so late with Josh the night before, but I'd wanted to get up at a normal hour to not drift into bad sleep habits. Saw a lot of people there and it was nice. Then band practice the following morning. Last practice before the show. Paul was an hour late (after missing the week before too) so we didn't get to run the set twice, which would have been ideal. We did get to run through it once and go over more songs afterwards. Mostly sounding good. A few songs were rough the first time, but better afterwards. And some were solid from the get-go. Josh even came over to work on projections, though he kept having trouble with his equipment (he plans to project at our release show, so I guess it was good he practiced first). Then I had to go to work as usual. Nothing to report there. Actually, I should have reported about the night before. I got asked to go to data entry again. Ugh. I'd only ever actually done it once before and that was with someone with me and guiding me and all that and that was about a fucking month ago. So I went really slow. I know there's all this paranoia over mistakes and I don't even know the fucking rules. Also, after getting to be on my feet, sitting down is kinda depressing. Maybe it was 'cuz I was already tired that night, but it put me in a real foul mood until I met up with others at Shawna's. Also, Jacques brought over my show poster design that he'd gotten printed up. He had also put 'em around a few places the other day. What else? I should get to looking up how to do JAXB for my project now.
