Mary Beth and I wrapped up our downtown dining experience by having dinner at Eighty3 last night. I'd say it was the best food of the few places we went this year. So that's like good and stuff. A little later, Josh and Dustin picked me up to go to a show at the Hi-Tone. There was some synthyish band Josh wanted to see but they were packing their stuff up when we arrived, maybe the Hi-Tone's gotten better about start times after all. They also have two stages now. There's a small room behind the bar that's like a little venue. I kind of like its size and atmosphere. Anyway, we first walk into the main room and there's some pop punk band consisting of dudes who are of course way older than they should be. It was bad so we went to see what was happening in the smaller room. That's when we realized the band Josh wanted to see was packing up. Also, they were wearing labcoats, I remember getting labcoats for a show so many years ago... We played against-the-wall ping pong. Then the next band set up and played. They were also not good. How would I describe them? Kinda grungy? Anyway, after a bit back to the main room. The band that started playing in there was bad metal. So we sat in the bar area and talked about modular stuff some more (we had been talking about modular stuff between bands too). Finally Strenghts played the main stage. I thought they were great as usual. Don't think Josh and Dustin liked them though. Josh said it sounded like the guitarist was doing interesting stuff but it was too muddled and it might sound good if they had a better sound. I think the muddled sound is what makes it. If it was clearer sounding it'd veer too much into cock territory. Anyway, that was my yesterday.
