ateolf: (Zelda)
Saturday there was some going out and doing stuff early on. Later in the evening I went over to Matt and Genie's for game night. We played a bunch of games I'd never played before so that was cool. First was The Rise of Augustus. Pretty cool, kinda like Catan meets bingo. We played two games of that. I came in last place both times, though the in the first game I was one move away from finishing a valuable card that would have put me in first place. So. The second one I just sucked, didn't have much diversity in the stuff that could get called and missed lots of chances to put shit down. The next game we played was called Coup. I didn't do well at that, but to be fair, the move that got me killed should've been a good call because I called out hadn't been using her skills for the card she had right before. Okay, so then after that we played this co-op superhero game (Defenders of the Multiverse). It was pretty cool. I was a robot dude. We finished with a few games of Timeline, and it's simple but I loved it. We gave Matt a handicap (I mean, he's the AP history teacher and it's all about putting historical events relative to each other on a timeline). But the second game I actually won and didn't need the handicap! (To be fair, the one Matt missed that put him behind had a pretty questionable date for the "decolonization of Africa" at the end of WWII as, you know, there were still actual colonies in Africa for decades after this "event.") Okay! Yesterday, Mary Beth and I watched Nymphomaniac Part I. I liked it, not as much as the other Von Trier movie I've seen (Antichrist), but there's still more to go I guess. We went grocery shopping in the evening. Kroger and then Fresh Market. Well, leaving the last place we get in my car and it fucking won't start. Tried a bunch and it just made the sound but wouldn't turn over. Great timing with me not having a job or money and all! So I called AAA and they sent a guy over pretty quick and then we opened the hood and turned the key and...it started! Goofy, but much better than the alternative. Later last night I watched Stolen Kisses (the Truffaut/Antoine Doinel movie). At times I've been updating my Discogs cds. I've finished a whole column and one extra row (so I'm in the middle of Miles Davis). My grandmother's in the hospital and does not seem to be doing well at all. I'll probably be going to see her at some point soon. I got an email today about my job interview later this week. I got a whole schedule. It's two hours altogether with four different people each for a half hour. Yikes! Maybe that's a good sign, but all that interviewing is mildly nerve-racking.
