Okay, so let's catch up with stuff. Not a whole lot towards the end of last week. Mary Beth and I have played a lot of Ticket to Ride. Friday evening we went to the Orpheum to see Jaws on the big screen. That was fun. It hadn't been that long since I first saw it, and I still enjoyed it. Afterwards we walked down to South of Beale. As we approached the door I heard "Mr. Traxler." One of my former students was there with her family (she just graduated last year). Almost didn't recognize her at first as her hair's a lot different, but I did. That wasn't really eventful, but I dunno, it's hard to explain. Significant to me in some way. Saturday I got up relatively early to babysit the nephews. Jason talked a lot about Minecraft as usual. But I got him to talk about other things, like school. He seems to be kinda into his math which is cool. He can add and subtract and multiply numbers by 10! He was really impressed when he asked me what a million times a thousand is and I gave it back to him right away. Anthony is also super-cute. He played a lot and I got him to laugh a lot. At one point my dad came back and took Jason to the store to get a belt. Well, Anthony got upset 'cuz he wasn't going too and was a little pouty and ignoring me at first. But as soon as I hit myself on the head with a toy and collapsed dramatically, he was laughing and ready to get back to playing. I also changed a diaper for the first time ever. Whew and it was a loaded one too! So I had to clean poop from everywhere just about. But Anthony's at the age where he could help me out too. He'd squat down so I could reach difficult places and would point around (not sure how much the pointing actually helped, but his knowing when to squat did). Came back home and Jacques came over. He brought me the birthday present that took a long time to come: Swans: Soundtracks for the Blind. Then we mocked up the remaining album artwork pieces. Now it just needs for the other dudes to show up and pick which of their pictures they wanna use. There was also much fretting over my computer (Windows Media Player has stopped working on my main laptop, keep trying a bunch of shit and cannot get it to work again). Last night/early this morning before I fell asleep I finished reading Foam of the Daze by Boris Vian. It was okay. Well, I started liking it more towards the end. Its cartoonish absurdity worked better as it got darker. I need to think about it some more before I have my final thoughts.
