Went over to Paul's Friday night for his ep release get-together. He gave me a cdr of it. It was pretty low-key, just kickin' it a little bit. Saturday the dudes came over and we did some recording. We worked on laying the groundwork for the song Ryan sings on. It has a sequence he programmed on his MicroKorg. I recorded it through a couple filters (including my new Polyvoks clone). I got a nice sound with 'em and was just gonna leave 'em be, but Ryan suggested I go crazy at the end. Well, the Polyvoks is notorious for going crazy, and recording that was really the first time I'd actually used it so it got even far far crazier than I was expecting. It totally sounds fucking awesome. We also recorded Ryan's bass synth part and Jacques's guitar and Paul's bass. After that we took an eating break at Arepas & Salsa. Then it was just Jacques and me. I did a little processing on one of the noise tracks at the beginning of "Fall Behind" (ran it through the Polyvoks's bandpass). Then tried to redo the high-pitch synth drone at the end of "Doctorate" on the modular, but Jacques wasn't liking any of the beautiful sounds I was making. He ended up doing something on the string synth. Yesterday I skipped the gym to get ready for this week. Was a little stressed knowing I was gonna be observed sometime. Also, did some cupcake delivering to friends (Mary Beth made Irish car bomb cupcakes for St. Patrick's day). Got to bed pretty late. Today was the first day of block schedule. I saw four classes and no planning period. I think it went okay. I got observed today. I hope it went well. Some aspects of my lesson were a bit lackluster, but I'm hoping the one I'm supposed to be focusing on went at least a little better. I'll see tomorrow. Also, tomorrow we're giving the ACT. So that's most of the day.
