El presidente
Nov. 8th, 2012 04:48 pmAlright! So there's this week! Anything about Monday? I can't think of anything. Of course, Tuesday was Tuesday. I was gonna be good and work and then check up on the election results later, but on the first little soundbite I heard coming from Mary Beth's computer, I was hooked and glued to my own looking after the election results. It was pretty nerve-wracking at first. Stupid Florida was the first big swing state to start really getting feedback and it was so close. Thankfully fucking Florida ended up not mattering (for those reading in the future, they still haven't decided though it looks from my vantage that it should be Obama). The race got called so early I wasn't even able to fully trust it for a while. Even when it did sink in, I was still addicted to watching those results come in. I started off with such a focus on Florida that, even when it didn't matter, I was hooked on watching it. I stayed up a while just watching it all to watch it all. Then I stayed up for Romney's concession. It finally got so late I didn't wait for Obama's acceptance speech, but I was watching those numbers change. After it was won, I started focusing on the popular vote, just wanting him to have that too. So I've been running on not much sleep this week. It's good we got to today. The PLAN test was being administered to the 10th graders so I was in homeroom most of the day. Most kids don't show up on these days so I only had a handful with me and got some menial work done. And I'm giving a test tomorrow so I have that and don't have anything else the rest of the week so I can relax and maybe even sleep for once! Sweet! Also, I don't think it needs mentioning, but I will: real happy about the results most of the way around with the election this year. I was getting pretty worried there. We won't go back to having a horrible horrible president, Steve Cohen stomped the other guy, quite a few things around other parts of the country that were very positive, election-wise. This reminds me. I gave a student some voting advice on Tuesday. She came up to me during annoncements at the end of 7th period asking about a text she'd gotten. It was something about selecting "all Democrat" not picking Obama and she was confused. I let her know that, at least on the machines I voted on, it wasn't set up like that and you didn't have that option anyway and just went through each candidate and voted one at a time. She said she didn't know any of the other candidates so she wouldn't vote on them. I told her she did know Cohen 'cuz he was up at our school just on Friday (he was there for the field ribbon cutting ceremony, he's been around a couple times, he gave the commencement speech at graduation last year too). Then she was like, oh him, I know him. I'll vote for Obama and Cohen too. Anyway, anecdate. I think that's it for now.
