ateolf: (METAAAAAAAAAAAAAAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
We got there and no one was home. Shortly later one of the residents arrived and was annoyed his roommates hadn't cleaned so he cleaned and we helped a little so we could get our stuff set up. Brian seemed real nice even though he apparently macked on my wife later on. I doubt fisticuffs will be necessary though. We waited a while as people were showing up and we played when there was a fair amount of people there (more kept coming later on, of course). It was a funny sort of set for us. Due to my headaches and fear of playing music and getting into it and causing another headache, I didn't sing or play any guitars or anything. I transposed a bunch of my parts from bass or guitar to the Moog. Also, everyone still wanted to do "Fall Behind" even though I wouldn't sing so Ryan sang it instead. And since our set was weird and might be limited in what we could play and it was a house show we did a couple covers, which is pretty rare for us. Anyway, the set!:

new intro
A Series of False Starts
The Provincial
Fall Behind
Nightcall
Our Secret
Doctorate
Death Blow

It was our premier of both this new intro (different from the intro we did at the last show) and "Death Blow" our newest song I wrote for the Moog anyway. The next band was thoroughly impressed with how quickly we broke our stuff down. They say we did it like pros. Which is nice 'cuz I know we used to take too long. I noticed we were pretty fast at Chicago too. I thought the incorporation of my semi-crazy synth rig meant we'd take long, but I guess I know it pretty good and shit. I also heard quite a few compliments on my Moog (moo like a cow). The next band was Courtesy and they were fucking great. One of the dudes lives in Chicago, so their playing live together is obviously a pretty rare thing. One of the dudes was in Organ Thief who we played with years ago. Then I talked to one of the dudes a while and he used to work with Brad and Tim at Dominos (as well as relay) and he was roommates with Tim a while and then my memory filled in that he was the dude that stole my guitar that time (and Tim got it back). My bringing this up sounds like I'm bitter or something but that's water under the bridge. Whose Army? played last and they were pretty good too. They're not as good when they try to rock really hard, but most of their set was good stuff. I guess I'll save the strictly-Robert stuff for another post.

I went over to my grandmother's yesterday and hung out with her a bit and my dad too. Father's Day thing. My dad and I went and got Mexican for lunch/dinner (his choice, wouldn't've been my first choice right before a show, but all was good). The, of course, it was all show time and stuff. I've already mentioned that junk. I will mention that we swapped cds with Whose Army? so I now have a copy of their The Tree of Leaves and Fire disc. Oh, and you can listen to the show just like you were there!:

This morning I woke up early and went and had a CT scan of my head. I came back home and went back to sleep. Mary Beth woke up a little over an hour later and freaked out saying I slept through my appointment. I had to be like, no I was there dude. I have the blue bandage around my arm still to prove it. Also, I was petting Horace this morning and he shook his head and globules of drool went flying and hit me in the face. Anyway, Jacques came over and we did lunch at Pho [Hoa] Binh and it was great and I ated a lot. My order from Important Records showed up in the mail: Pauline Oliveros: Reverberations: Tape & Electronic Music 1961-1970 (12 fuckin' disc box set!), Elaine Radigue: Transamorem-Transmortem, Kluster: Vulcano, and Kluster: Admira. I was supposed to get a Merzbow shirt, but it wasn't there. I'll have to get to the bottom of this.
