I don't think there's too much to mention aside from yesterday. Was pretty low on sleep Thursday and Friday nights. Stayed up late Friday messing around with Famitracker. Maybe I can finally get all hardcore with my nerdiness. Yesterday Mary Beth and I went to the TEA Teachers Rally in Nashville. Woke up early to meet at the MEA building. We were running on not much sleep but it was a pretty great day nonetheless. Didn't ever really feel tired. There was a large group of us from Memphis. We rode up in four buses. I didn't have the time or ability to think of a good sign beforehand so I just used one of the stock ones MEA provided. Many thanks to my supportive wife for coming along even though she's not a teacher. We arrived at this park downtown and all assembled and then marched a little less than a mile to the capitol. We had been warned there was to be a counter-protest staged by the Tea Party. Towards the end of our walk I saw one man with an anti-teacher sign at the side of the street. Mary Beth saw two signs. I would be surprised if there were more than five people in this counter-protest. Oh, and our side numbered in the thousands. It was a huge turnout with everyone filling the whole street and then some as we made it up to the plaza. There was light rain on and off the whole time and it was starting to get a little cold, but it was a good time. For the first part I saw little more than umbrellas. It did gradually thin out so in the last part we were able to make it close enough to see the speakers. I know it's not as crazy and Tennessee's not getting as much attention as Wisconsin, but this shit's happening all around the country. Hopefully we won't have to take all the bullshit. As I said, the rally was a lot of fun, it lasted three hours and then we headed back home. During the bus ride back I finished reading The Review of Contemporary Fiction Summer 2010 | Vol. XXX: Slovak Fiction. After we got back we met Josh and Molly at Broadway Pizza and stuffed ourselves (well, I stuffed myself). Then we were finally able to crash. That was nice too. All parts were nice.
