Mar. 18th, 2010 08:58 pmso yesterday the teacher that made me write the letter of recommendation got back to me with her version...much different and much better than what i'd written! not just much better-drafter but also far more glowing than i'd expected...in the letter she said i had the best paper writing skills she's seen in a long time...then in the email response to my thanking her she said she enjoys having good students and that at some point i should try for a doctorate...i was very surprised by that...my other teacher just got back to me and wants me to tell her some stuff to put in the letter so it looks like i'm solid on that front...
then in the evening Mary Beth and i went to hang out with Dustin and Courtney and Daphne...it being the holiday it was we searched around a little for somewhere not too crowded and baby-friendly...they took us to some place called Mellow Mushroom...a gimmicky pizza chain thing that has the atmosphere you very well might expect (somewhat reminescent of Mr. Show's San Francisco amusement park sketch...minus the gay and chinese aspects...) the pizza was pretty good, though...however, what they do (with the unusual topping and all) is done much better by Lou's in a much more agreeable environment (and i'll mention again much better)...their pizza was REALLY greasy, like even for pizza...it was pan pizza level saturation while not being pan pizza...otherwise the crust was kinda nice and different being at least partially wheat...anyway not bad but not a place to frequent or choose to return to...
i came home to my "new" car stereo that's the same as my old one waiting for me in a package...now i have to figure out how the hell to install it...at work today i finished reading Life a User's Manual by Georges Perec...it was good, in parts the writing was most excellent though Perec does like the laundry list approach to literature which, while i have nothing against, usually leaves me unable to retain much information or impression...
