well, fuck, i was almost finished typing up this post when i made the discovery that there is a fucking "power" botton on the goddamn keyboard in close proximity to the backspace key...nice, and necessary...starting over again...as the first month of the year is nearly up, we were in desperate need of a calendar so we went out in search of one...first stop, bookstar: a bunch of crap...next barnes and noble: almost no calendars to speak of, but i did discovery they now have used books (something i'd only seen in their stores in other parts of the country...) i couldn't but help myself to a few: The Seventh Heaven by Naguib Mahfouz, The Towers of Trebizond by Rose Macaulay, The Ten Thousand Things by Maria Dermoût, Panther in the Basement by Amos Oz, I'm not Scared by Niccolò Ammaniti, and This Is about the Body, the Mind, the Soul, the World, Time, and Fate by Diane Williams...and finally to hastings where they had a good calendar issued by MOMA no less! i also picked up a couple cheap remaindered books: The Bookshop, The Gate of Angels, The Blue Flower by Penelope Fitzgerald and Portrait of an Artist, as an Old Man by Joseph Heller...and then today, which was all productive...i went and got fingerprinted for my background check for school...then i went and submitted my application for the tep program (finally!) so i can take classes again next semester...and then i returned my Adolescence book thanks to Amber who is loaning me hers from last semester...they have a new edition that just came out so i thought i'd be stuck having to buy the new one, but in class my teacher said the old one would be fine...and as it comes down to $145, returned it was!
