Mary Beth and i had an adventure last night: an attempt to watch this meteor shower...we took a nap earlier in the evening then woke up around or after midnight or so...it didn't look promising with light rain and the sky a solid sheet of cloud, but off we went...drove out to tipton county on a little road just past Mason(?) pulled over by a little field and of course couldn't see a thing...not even one star...it would have been perfect way out there, but the weather alas! still it was something to do...getting out of the car into that absolute silence and the crunch of the dirt under my feet and the mild cold with that faint hint of precipitation in the air, it jolted me with sense memories of hunting trips with my dad when i was a kid, that atmosphere...it's been so long since i've heard silence like that...it was kind of nice for that minute before we turned back...i even tried to linger a bit to take in as much as i could...anyway, that's all...
