ateolf: (METAAAAAAAAAAAAAAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
the show went pretty well...got off to a rough start 'cuz we noticed some of our stuff was missing...i went back home (just down the street two minutes away) and found someone'd left the cymbals in the driveway...nice, but there was other stuff that i still couldn't find at home...the trip wasn't a waste though 'cuz while setting up Jacques found his big muff had broken between practice a few hours before and setting up so i picked up his danelectro pedal for him...but anyway it turned out the first opening band (Modern Genltemen) took off with quite a few pieces of our drum hardware (an honest mistake, they ended up coming back and returning it all, drum hardware tends to look alike...but the annoying aspect is they left before we even played...it should've never happened in the first place...a bit of a dick move...anyway...) almost no one was there by the time we played as usual...but we played pretty well, i think...our set went something like this: (okay, exactly like this):
that new song
A Series of False Starts
The Yellow Light
Placeholder
Doctorate
it was a really fun show...i got all pumped up playing the drums...i hadn't played the drums in like two years or something before getting ready for this show...that's kinda sad...but god playing the drums is so much fun...i'm trying to remember if there's anything else about the show worth mentioning...i forget if there is...

ateolf: (MEEEEEEERY CHRIIIIIIIISTMAS HAHAHAHA!!!!)
as i'm on vacation for a week (except for one day of working tomorrow) Mary Beth and i did christmas early! here's what i got: one of those wooden massaging thingies, a tie with a picture of a Synthi-E on it (my new favorite tie! no easy feat as i have some damn sweet ties!), and Ōkami for the Wii (i didn't even konw it'd come out for it!)...so saturday was pretty sweet...and later in the evening we got to hang out with Monika for a little bit who was in town for a little bit...ate at Pho Hoa Binh with a bunch of people and then hung out at The Cove for a bit afterwards...we followed it up with some Huey's with Jacques and Amber after that...Jacques said something about one of the waitresses and used the word "cute" and she was standing right behind him and right afterwards said "how are you guys doing?" to us and Jacques spent the rest of the evening being mortified...it was funny for us though...and let to a new classic comedy routine involving such classic lines as "i bet a standard ds is standing right behind me" and "i bet ..." okay my mind's a blank now and i can't think of any of the other comedic classics...oh well...today i celebrated my not working by going to consignment and pawn shops and thrift stores...i thought i'd found something at this one pawn shop: a Roland GR-707...but it was just the guitar and there was no corresponding GR-700 syntheszier to go with it...and i thought they were selling it for under $250 but when i went back it was over $350...my brain's broken or something...i might've gotten just the guitar controller for first price but not the second...and anyway i have NO (and by "no" i mean "negative") money anyway so it's best i didn't find something so cool...at one thrift store i got a few books: Briefing for a Descent into Hell by Doris Lessing, The Beautiful and Damned by F. Scott Fitzgerald, and The Mezzanine by Nicholson Baker all for the price of $1...and that brings it up to date...it's lame i've gotta work tomorrow but whatever...
