it's been a long and eventful (for me anyway) weekend...worthy of the end of my twenties, i guess...let's see if i can remember things...saturday we went with Jason to see Sherri dance at Caspian...and apparently it's closing in two weeks so i guess it was our goodbye (but they didn't have their persian ice cream so it might as well not count...) and we hung out at Brad and Sherri's afterwards...some telescoping, etc...then yesterday was Mary Beth's birthday...she gave me an early present: Word Jong for the DS and we went out to Hastings' as she got a text saying that they had a big sale for 40% off all used books...i got way too many but man they really had a lot of awesome fuckin' stuff! and most if it wasn't really used but just remaindered new stuff they were clearing out and tagging as used...and i got a bit of stuff i'd really wanted so...i'll go ahead and give the damned long list you love to skip over (that is if you haven't already skipped over this) in an easily skip over-able separate paragraph:

Nickel and Dimed by Barbara Ehrenreich, Let It Come Down by Paul Bowles, Cities of the Red Night by William S. Burroughs (which i read many years ago, but never had a copy of my own), My Education by William S. Burroughs, Exile and the Kingdom by Albert Camus, The First Man by Albert Camus, A Happy Death by Albert Camus, The Grass Harp by Truman Capote, Where I'm Calling From by Raymond Carver, Waiting for the Barbarians, by J. M. Coetzee, The Names by Don DeLillo, In Milton Lumky Territory by Philip K. Dick, Lafcadio's Adventures by André Gide, The Fifth Child by Doris Lessing, At the Mountains of Madness by H. P. Lovecraft, The Autumn of the Patriarch by Gabriel García Márquez, The General in His Labyrinth by Gabriel García Márquez, Memories of My Melancholy Whores by Gabriel García Márquez, Of Love and Other Demons by Gabriel García Márquez, Strange Pilgrims by Gabriel García Márquez, Atonement by Ian McEwan, Against Gravity by Farnoosh Moshiri, Blind Willow, Sleeping Woman by Haruki Murakami, The Enchanter by Vladimir Nabokov, Coming through Slaughter by Michael Ondaatje, The Moviegoer by Walker Percy, Complete Tales & Poems by Edgar Allan Poe, The Echo Maker by Richard Powers, The Breast by Philip Roth, Operation Shylock by Philip Roth, The Early Stories 1953-1975 by John Updike, Gertrude and Claudius by John Updike, and We by Yevgeny Zamyatin

then we met my parents at The Butcher Shop for dinner...it was pretty fuckin' awesome...their house specialty is a fuckin' filet mignon stuffed with portobello! SO FUCKING GOOD! i mean, it sounds amazing, but it actually tasted even better than it sounds! my gift from my parents was some money to go towards my synthesizer monthly installments! so i'm gonna be getting a few modules at once fairly soon...that's exciting...we concluded our rushing day by rushing back out to midtown and meeting Josh, Molly, Dustin, and Courtney to see The Dark Knight...it was okay...good for an action/comic book movie but nothing that transcends an action/comic book movie...and i thought it actually being really long was good for it as it made use of all that time while giving me the illusion that these days' insane ticket price wasn't quite wasted...

and then i turned thirty today...i woke up real fuckin' early to get my license renewed...i could have done it online or whatever but i wanted a new picture as i didn't like my old one i figure i look differenter now anyway...the line was insanely long, but as i only had to renew i got to do crap myself on a computer station and not wait long at all...but holy fuck, my new picture is SO BAD! i mean, it makes my old one look awesome...i seriously look like a bloated corpse...i'm all poofy in it and have a second chin and the fact that i got up far earlier than normal shows...my eyes are all black and sunken and my hair was still wet from the shower so it's all clinging to my forehead and i look like i was just fished out of a river...oh well! i at least had time to go back home...i lay in bed for 50 minutes but didn't get back to sleep...

oh, i should mention that i fucking injured my knee book shopping...all the squatting and bending over carrying large stacks of books hurt my fucking knee...i started to feel it during the batman movie and last night it was (while not terribly painful) pretty bad, but it didn't sustain and by now it's back to normal, which i found to be a relief...that's about the most pathetic injury possible...anyway, i got my other present from Mary Beth today: Catan: Traders & Barbarians expansion (i'd never heard of it, it apparently just came out the other week...pretty sweet!) and then went to ups to pick up my present from her parents which is a grill...so i'm thirty but i don't have any more insight into that, sorry...so i'll quit now...
