alumnus

on friday Mary Beth and i went to Interstate barbecue (which i hadn't even heard of til recently even though it's all world-famous so i guess i'm a bad memphian...) it was pretty good, their ribs are amazing...anyway, more practice with the alumni band in the evening and Mary Beth accompanied me as there was a gathering of some of us at Huey's afterwards...i had been up since so early i was pretty exhausted by this point...then yesterday i was rested and ready for another rehearsal...i'm playing more parts now and only don't play anything on two songs! alright! there was going to be a tour of the school and h.s. jazz band/orchestra (that's new!)/percussion ensemble concert midday but Mary Beth has been feeling pretty bad for some days now (she bumped her head on wednesday...i think she has a concussion...i'm a bit worried about her...) and she didn't feel up to making it out at the time so i went home...though we were able to make it out for the banquet dinner thingie at grisanti's/embassy suites...they had a stack of yearbooks and there were some slides too...there was some good ol' talkin' at my table...Stephen (a guy i'd forgotten about til a couple days ago! he was a percussionist too and two grades below me...) reminded me of some stories i'd forgotten about...and one in particular because now that i kinda remember it i have no idea why it happened in the first place...it's been bugging me (the surrounding circumstances...) anyway, after that back to school for another last rehearsal...the banquet went over a bit (but that's okay, the food was good and it was really fun, which i know, sounds odd for a banquet of this sort, but it was...) so the final rehearsal was real brief...anyway, the concert's today! if anyone is intersted (and i'm sure no one is!) it's at CBHS at 4 o'clock today...watch a bunch of old people make their way in a semi-competent fashion through a few songs! that is, after the high school band, of course...anyway, it'll be an amusing experience for me...we're supposed to wear a blazer or a jacket or something but i don't have one...so i guess i'll be the bum...i'll clean up real nice with a tie though...
