my sister came by with my nephew Jason yesterday...it's crazy how fast babies grow up and stuff...he's just walking all over the place, opening doors and picking stuff up and just doing stuff and it's really funny and cute and all that baby stuff...and it's like i'm not even sure he's still a baby anymore...so that was fun...speaking of babies, i forgot to mention that on thanksgiving we gave the cats some tuna...Horace only eats dry food (well, i guess when he's not sneaking and eating Trudy's food, which she eats both wet and dry) anyway the next day i came home to some vomit on my bed, but he's seemed fine otherwise...poor Horace Horice...then later we went to my parents'...my dad was out of town so it was just my mom there...we ate thanksgiving lefttovers and played with the dogs...we met up with Ryan and some of his friends for a brif bit and then went to see Melt-Banana! we missed the first two opening bands, but David and Paul who caught one of them said that they were good...the band we did make it in time for was The Locust...i wasn't really expecting to like them, but they had this amazing synth set-up...the keyboard player had a Minimoog Voyager and it was connected to this huge fuck-off modular rack behind him...it gave me seventeenthousand sorts of boners...and then they played and it was alright...really, heavy ball-crushing music with an awesome synth...then it was Melt-Banana and they were awesome, of course...they did an awesome cover of "Heart of Glass" which was way better than the original (and i like that song a lot...) and i wished i could find my earplugs...ah well...then they stopped and i thought ah, they didn't play my favorite song, then they came back for an encore and guess what? they played my favorite song! yay! ("A Shield for You Eyes, a Beast in the Well on Your Hand") and did i already say it was an awesome show? it was, i haven't been to a good show in a while, and Melt-Banana rocks, hooray...although i was starting to suffer a little fatigue towards the end...i'd been way underslept for a few days in a row...also, Paul brought his boss from work this dude named Steve who seemed pretty cool and it's neat meeting new people that seem pretty cool...i hit up some merch: got another Melt-Banana t-shirt, Melt-Banana: Bamabi's Dilemma, Agata: Spike (this is the guitar player's solo album on Tzadik...he's an amazing guitar player so this should be awesome), a sticker, two pins, and at The Locust's table i bought their newest cd: New Erections...i figure as far as that sort of music goes, i can have one cd and be alright and if that one cd is the one with an amazing modular Moog set-up then all the fuckin' better! word...damn, speaking of pins i forgot to mention that yesterday also Mary Beth got an order of pins in the mail and gave me a bunch!: two of Piet Mondrian paintings, Wire, The Sound, Kraftwerk (the cover of Computer World), Can (Tago Mago), Devo (Are We Not Men?), Bauhaus, and The Comsat Angels...i like pins, my messenger back is COOL right now, i say! i think i caught up on a bit of sleep today...well, anyway...it's been a pretty rock'n'roll weekend so far...
