hung out with Dustin yesterday...he got me a late birthday present: a Danelectro Fab Echo pedal, which i guess was half of the present the other half being our spending the day circuitbending it...it was quite some fun and we got the pedal doin' some neat stuff...the pedal on its own is a pretty simple delay, with a fixed rate and limited feedback, which you can control a little bit...mostly slapback type of effect...well, we got an extra knob on there and got it so you can change the speed (and it's nice and analog with the pitch shift as you change the speed...nice...) and one switch hooked up to it that goes back and forth between slightly longer or shorter delay time...two other switches: one makes this distortion with a super squelchy delay feedback and the other is a distortion that has a weird clunking going when you're not playing...and then you can just get some extra weird sounds when you turn the extra knob in combination with the other switches...it's pretty sweet...soldering and drilling fun! Josh stopped by too and Dustin conned him into doing some of the trickier soldering bits...

today at work i was assigned to do some guruing...i thought once again i'd lucked out when he didn't show up for two hours into my shift...but instead there was just some confusion with him having previously been assigned to someone else's schedule and not being told mine when it was supposed to be me...anyway...so most of the day i had to do it...only a slight reprieve...i did finish reading Go Down, Moses by William Faulkner today...then i got some mail: Pattern Recognition by William Gibson...(i know i'd said i'd stop buying books...i at least have caught up again with my "read" vs. "unread"...and there's more coming anyway, so...whatever...) and then i had to go by the damn ups place to pick up another damn package...damn those darmn-ass jerks...
