yeah...

first off, i've already been kicked out of The Extras...oh well, mostly a bummer 'cuz i had a little bit of a crush on the girl whose name i can't remember (not that i actually talked to her or know anything about her except that she's cute...anyway...) last night Jason came over and we went to this show...the band was Soul Enforcer and they were pretty good...reggae...i was mostly impressed with the drummer...he wasn't bombastic or anything, pretty simple if anything...but what he played was totally sweet...some of it was a bit reggae-by-the-numbers (espcially in the singing which there was too much of) but overall it was pretty good...i was almost passed out by the end of the night though...the opening act was so bad it's not worth mentioning...soooo bad...ooh, i'm trying to not even give it the honor of acknowledging it at all...fuck, i can't help it...a few notes: one dude, guitar, foot-pedaled bass/snare drums, every (and i mean EVERY) song about "weed", bad bad BAD songs, bad songs messed up and restarted continually, the guy felt this music was worthy of TOURING with...[shudder]

anyway...today i went to my parents' for this big family thing down in mississippi...i guess my sister's wedding shower or something like that...it was at her husband's sister's house...some family, some food, etc...ooh, when i got to my parents' house my dogs fucking mauled me...i mean they always get beyond excited when they see me but today they were beyond even that! i was almost killed by love or something...after all that i went to Jacques/Amber's...we watched some Simpsons and then i saw Crash finally...lot of Cronenberg lately...(well, two movies in one week...) oh yeah! and The Family Ghost got stuck on a show at the last minute...we're playing at the P&H in one week (next saturday...april 1st? this better not be some damned april fool's joke...) uh, come see us and stuff!

new music

today Jacques and i went to lastchance to see about the cds...the one we'd sold up there like a month ago was still there...guess it's not really "moving"...Larry was there but there wasn't much to say i guess...we did give him a copy to listen to...then we were outside talking to Larry, just chattin'...some guy who was up there talking to him made a comment about gay marriages so Jacques got into an argument with him for like an hour and a half...it was kind of amusing...but then it was more kind of cold...i was mostly quiet but i had a few comments here and there...Larry didn't say much either...hopefully he's not a big christian or something and got offended by anything Jacques said (which wasn't really OFFENSIVE, per say, just not pro-christian) and will now hate us and never talk to us again, etc...he didn't say much either...i doubt that's the case, but it was just kind of amusing more than anything...

anyway after that The Family Ghost practiced and it was pretty awesome...the one new thing is really worked out and ready for our show (THIS WEEK)...i was hoping we'd have all this new stuff ready for our next show (which we would have had had we not been surprised by this sneak show in a week...but the other new thing should definitely be ready for our other "next" show in like two weeks...) anyway, the new thing that is ready, while we were practicing it i did the strangest thing ever for the first time...at the end where it's huge and loud i was fucking jumping up and down!(?) to me it's the weirdest thing...but it was just so fucking awesome and i was just started jumping and just banging the heck out of that one chord i keep playing at the end...

anyway, for something really nerdy...we were sitting around the computer afterwards and i noticed this guy who does some shows on wevl (local community radio station) had added us (he's the guy whose girlfriend works with and she gave a cd to her to give to him some time ago...) then we notice his playlist for this week's Memphis Beat and he actually played "A Series of False Starts"! so we've been played on the local show of the community station! i dunno, it's really cool for me...then we followed the link to his blog for his other show Music Lovers...okay, back story: last week Jacques and i were at Shangri-La and he noticed that cdr we made back in 2003 in the $1 bin, the cd we gave out for free...it was kinda weird and almost made me feel dirty seeing it in a dollar bin, but whatever...so in the blog he talks about the stuff he got at Shangri-La's annual record exchange...well, in the list is that self-titled cdr...he got our real cd, played it on the radio, then saw this other thing and bought it! (cheaply, but still...) that's kinda weird...and pretty cool...for some reason it makes me very excited...so...yeah...i guess that's all i got to say...
