dancing at the homosexual venue
Oct. 7th, 2005 12:12 amJonathan Richman last night was pretty great...the set was VERY similar to what i saw like two years ago, including the one Modern Lovers song "Pablo Picasso" (which is my favorite so that's perfectly alright...) lots of dancing...a few songs in italian and french (and i actually thought the italian stuff was spanish at first and i actually understood like half of it, how much i'd understand if it were spanish...until he mentioned he was singing in italian...only more encouragement to learn italian after i get back into the swing of spanish...as i'm sure there wouldn't be much at all to actually learn...) the one significant difference of last night was the drummer playing a full kit instead of a cocktail kit...his drummer is completely badass...oh, i should mention Vic Chestnut, the opening act...one of the worst things ever...and everyone there fucking bought that shit up...laughing at the puns that made me cringe...fuckin' yuppies...he was like the crippled version of that dude with the variety show on npr...anyway...
tonight Jacques and Josh came over as we needed to do some "touching-up" on "Homage" before we attempt mixing it down again (the last song we have left...) we didn't finish but we made significant progress and be done pretty soon...all that runnin' around's got me all excited-like...i haven't done any writing this week like i said i would, but it's turned out i've been doing stuff every night so...i didn't sign up for any overtime NEXT week...maybe i'll write then? maybe i'll squeeze some out this weekend? we'll see...tonight i finished reading The Blue Octavo Notebooks by Franz Kafka...and that brings us up to date...
