ateolf: (the goat...BITCH!)
i'll go in order...starting with something i meant to mention in my last post but forgot (again)...driving home from work on wednesday i saw this bronco with a Wolf Eyes sticker...i belive homemade...it was just the cover of Dread no words or nothing, pretty big...like the white image was just cut in green? vinyl or whatever...at first it looked like some big sticker that had eroded but then i saw the moon-thingie and wsa like wait a minute, that's Wolf Eyes! it was on the expressway and at the moment i noticed the guy was exiting...i had an impulse to run him off the road so i could get him to stop and tell him what a cool sticker he has...maybe if i see that car again...

anyway, after work it was straight to packing gear and heading to Murphy's...Spin Room played first, they were fine as usual...then after a bit we played and our set was:
Taken
A Series of False Starts
The Yellow Light
The Longest Day of the Year
Like Clockwork
Placeholder
not a big crowd (mostly just our friends) but those that were there kept telling us it was our best show...it was pretty good..."Taken" was super-super noisy...the last time we practiced "Placeholder" we played around with this different ending and we played around with it live last night...it started with Brad (who plays the string synth on that song) playing on the Wasp at the end (actually he did that at the last show but it was more textural and droning along with the string synth but then he started just making a huge racket on it...) and this prompted Jacques to make his guitar even louder and noisier which prompted me to just start playing super-super fast on them drums and messing around with different beats and stuff...i dropped two sticks, right in a row...then Andrew fetched one of his and gave it to me...that was nice...also the hi-hat wasn't screwed on right and it messed up towards the beginning so i was having to improvise around not being able open it a little into the song (which for that part is the biggest thing i do...slowly opening and closing the hi-hat...) and before i realized that fixing said hi-hat would be impossible without completely stopping, i was doing a bit of one-handed drumming while attempting in vain to fix it...i think the show was definitely one of our most fun to play...i'm trying to think if there was anything else worthy of mention...not really...i was fucking dead tired all day yesterday...got to sleep late...so then i play the show and am exhausted and the last song made my arms numb (after we loaded the gear back into my place and i was standing outside on the back deck talking to Jacques, quite a bit of time after we'd played, i was leaning on the railing and noticed my arm wouldn't stop shaking...cool...) and then i didn't get to sleep too well last night again...and then i wake up super-fucking early today...i estimate 4 hours of sleep...oh well, maybe this will push me back onto my regular working man schedule...i guess that's all i have...oh yeah, another thing...working all day then going straight to the show and playing it i was so busy i didn't even hardly have time to realize it was my birthday...that's a nice thing, really...
ateolf: (me and Leala)
today was somewhat eventful...i went out...i went to sell that Stevie Wonder cd that i most recently acquired 'cuz it wasn't so good and spin street wouldn't take it 'cuz of scratches so i went to lastchance where i bought it in the first place and i convinced the girl there to take it for a menial price...and i got:
Xiu Xiu: La ForĂȘt
The Cure: Faith (that 2 disc reissue...this band's gonna make me go broke with this shit...i actually want Seventeen Seconds and Pornography a wee bit more, but this is the one they had...)
then i went to my parents'...it was earlier in the afternoon so i had time to play with the doggies a bunch...that's the best birthday present i could ask for...then later we went and ate thai...then i got some presents: some money, some pants (i actually asked for pants 'cuz all mine but one are ripped on the left knee...i don't know why i do that but that's the way my pants go...and i don't mind it, but it'd be nice to have at least SOME that aren't ripped...and buying pants for myself is lame...), and Killer 7 for the GameCube so it was a pretty alright birthday thingie...now i'm back home sitting around and i guess that's all i have going on...
