ateolf: (the goat...BITCH!)
it's been a little while...uh...sunday The Family Ghost got together...we were gonna record "The Great War" but then the rest of the band decided they didn't wanna do it yet...it does need a little working out, but i thought it wouldn't be a problem but everyone else seemed to think it'd be too much trouble to get done in time...buncha losers if you ask me...but instead we redid the guitars on "Homage" and then Jacques did the vocals for "Homage"...so that song's taken care of...and i guess now that we're not doing "The Great War" we're pretty much finished with the recording section of making this record...we have the basis for all the songs, one song needs vocals, a few songs need minor additions, at least one needed a minor adjustment...but every song is mostly recorded...every song is down in some form...at least that's something, i guess...this week i've been working the overtime...two extra hours every day except wednesday...on monday i got a huge shock by being placed in the trs queue...it was amazing, i had so much extra time for reading (on top of having two extra hours to boot...) i ended up finishing the book i was reading The Collected Stories of Philip K. Dick Volume 1...i read well over a hundred pages...it wasn't until towards the end of my overtime i finished though...then i read the forward and the introduction...then at the very end with some time left and nothing left to read (something that's never happened before) i picked up a book that someone happened to have left at the console i was sitting at: The Cowboy Who Came in from the Cold...i only made it to the second page...too bad, it seemed like gooooood stuFF...also on monday i came home to some mail:
Pinebender: Too Good to Be True
Hood: Outside Closer
Sigur Rós: Von
White Magic/American Analog Set: Songs of Hurt and Healing
the latter is a free promo ep...i almost didn't even pay it any attention, assuming a free promo from insound would be some crap...i'd never heard of White Magic and American Analog Set was really really curvey on the cover so i didn't even notice it said that...i might have thrown it away but in a fit of boredom i decided to just pop it in the stereo and see what happened...i was expecting a laugh, really...but then i was like "hey, this band sounds a lot like The American Analog Set"...then i looked at the inside, sure enough...and then later when i listened to the whole thing i think i decided i might like the White Magic songs even more...so i guess it wasn't such a bad thing that i paid it attention...after work on wednesday Jacques came over...we tried to get the vocals down for "Phantom Limb" but he couldn't stand the way he was singing so he decided to practice that and try again later...and i guess that pretty much brings us up to date...oh yeah, also on wednesday Dustin got a wireless router in the mail and i got my wireless adapter too...so now we have a wireless connection and i'm getting internet in my room again!!! though the connection gets a little wonky from time to time...it's steady right now...and almost always it works well enough...but last night the connection was getting lost and found at a rate of every second, literally...on/off/on/off/on/off...etc...and as i'm typing that it started doing that crap and, though briefly (it was like all night last night...) well, NOW that's the end...
