ateolf: (MEEEEEEERY CHRIIIIIIIISTMAS HAHAHAHA!!!!)
The Family Ghost got together yesterday and we recorded "Like Clockwork" and it was a success...i did my guitar in two sections...first clean and then i recorded the distorted parts separately...and i even got the vocals down...so it sounds rockin' and stuff so yeah...rock...then after that i went to cookin'...with my mango salsa already prepared the other day, i made my columbian "empenadas" and fried plantains...the plantains were a disaster, i learned a lesson in plantain ripeness just before i began cooking and realized they were not at all ripe...so they were not at all sweet and really really dense...they tasted like potatoes except denser...but the empenadas were good...i guess i wasn't able to get the right kind of pastry so i just used croissant dough (which i wasn't really able to completely wrap around the awesome filling to make a sealed shell anyway...) but they turned out really well regardless...so i finally made it to Jacques/Amber's and soon thereafter Amber and Amanda finished their cookings...it was all badass...then presents!
from Jacques/Amber:
a lipstick pen
Gulcher by Richard Meltzer
The Complete Jam dvd
Kid Icarus for the Gameboy Advance
this last item deserves mention as to its utmost awesomeness...you may know of Nintendo's "Classic NES" series for the GBA...there were two waves of games being put out here in the states, but it started off in japan and they ended up having three (or maybe four, but i think three) waves of games over there...so there were a few more games that got put out over there...one of them being Kid Icarus (or whatever the weird name for it is in japanese), which is one of my all-time goddamned favorite games ever...possibly second next to the Zelda games...definitely second on the NES (right behind The Legend of Zelda)...so that was awesome that they imported it...
from Amanda:
a t-shirt that has a bunch of old synths drawn shaping out the united states...it's my new favoritest shirt ever!!! you can even play the game of figuring out which synth is what...my Wasp was an easy find in the picture...if i had a picture of it i'd post it 'cuz it's really too cool for words...
from Jason:
Starcade: First Edition #1 (episodes 19, 59, 60, 62, and 63) dvd...for those of you not in the know Starcade was (as the tagline states) "tv's first video arcade game show"...i believe it started in 1980 and went on for a few years...and so it's got nerds playing video games competing for nerdy things their their own video game machine...it's totally goddamned awesome...i can't wait for them to put out more dvds (so far this is the only one out yet...) and then it also came with a Starcade t-shirt and uh...i forget what they're called...but those little fuzzy ball creatures...well 4 of them and they have the Starcade logo on their tag...oh well, they're minor in the Starcade scheme of things anyway...
but yeah...christmas was totally radical...oh yeah...and Justin H. came in town last night...he stopped by for a bit...and when i came home i noticed some mail...i got my replacement copy of that Joy Division dvd thingie so i can send the ripped one back...it also seems to be of better printing quality...like you can almost not tell it was printed on a computer...i doubt i'll be so lucky with the quality of the video...but until they officially release this crap...uh, yeah...
