last night, in the few minutes between getting home from work and going to sleep, i finished reading Please Kill Me: the Uncensored Oral History of Punk by Legs McNeil and Gillian McCain...then work today sucked balls...it was busy as turds...queueing pretty much the whole day solid...blah...anyway...i had some mail waiting for me, getting wet when i got home...the new Joan of Arc - Bundini Brown split 12"...it's gay that it's all limited and only on vinyl...i don't particularly care for vinyl...despite my somewhat decent record collection i don't have a working turntable anyway...so basically i have about 12 square inches of cardboard and wax...i'm sure i'll listen to it one day...woah...and i don't know who this Bundi Brown is but i just looked on the back of the sleeve and his contribution is a cover of "All World Cowboy Romance"...hopefully he does it justice...
...anyways, some good news, i'd known of the possibility for close to a week but it's now confirmed: THE FAMILY GHOST HAS A SHOW AT THE HIGH TONE!!! NOT ONLY DO WE HAVE A SHOW AT THE HIGH TONE (our first show at a "real" venue) BUT THE SHOW JUST HAPPENS TO BE ON MY BIRTHDAY!!! (that's july 21st since i'm sure you didn't know that...) how fucking awesome is that!?!?!? much thanks to Jack for helping us get the show...it stemmed from his talking to the guy that opened for Sebadoh...then later talking again mentioning coming back to do a show blah blah...so yeah, we have like a show...it's a wednesday and there are three other bands playing so that's a little crowded, but that's okay...it's that dude i just mentioned, a band he's touring with, and uh the dude from Snowglob (a shit, local Beatles rip-off shit band, but people here love 'em 'cuz people here love crap)...but at least there's good to be seen even in that...he may actually draw some sort of crowd, so if a bunch of people actually see/hear us (something that's never really happened yet), then there's a better chance some of them will actually like us...of course, if they're Snowglob fans i doubt it'd be a high percentage, but if even there was just one person who i don't know and doesn't know anyone i know that actually liked us that would be like the coolest thing...anyway, enough about that...also, maybe this could be our step around the Hi-Tone's "you have to be established to play here" policy...the fact that we'd gotten to play would open the door to playing again...that would be cool...anyway i guess i'm done here...
p.s.
i had meant to say SnowglobE, but Snowglob's funny so i'll leave that...
