the early bird gets the turd

well, i've certainly been fucking busy the past few days...so i went to bed very early the other night and i woke up very early (6:15 am) and i was gonna get to the dmv early and get all my stuff taken care of...somewhat worried that my missing window might be somewhat of a problem with inspection i decided to freshen it up with a new garbage bag (the other one's been completely shredded and just dangling mostly inside, a little outside for a couple months now...) so i pulled down the tattered remnants of the old garbage bag and put up some fresh plastic...i also scooped out the bits of plastic that had gotten stuffed inside the door latch...THEN i try to shut the door...the door doesn't shut...the door won't shut...i think the plastic getting stuffed up in there had fucked it up, but also as it stayed stuffed inside the latch it kept the door in a not-so-steady state of actually being capable of shutting...but once i pulled that all out i shattered that fragile equilibrium...i tried for at least an hour to fix it, then to break it even more so that the damn thing could just SHUT...(the latch part inside the door was pretty much turned 90 degrees downward, so what should have been the top was facing the side and bumping into the metal bar on the body that it's supposed to latch onto) i had a slight hunch that there was no way my car would pass inspection with a door that won't shut so i gave up on that...i ended up duct taping it so it'd stay shut...(it's amazing how well that old addage about duct tape holds up!) still having a bunches of time before work i called around to some body shops a little and went by this one place, they gave an estimate of a little over $100...another place was about the same...they said they'd have to order the part and we could schedule a time to get it fixed when it came in...so while i was in the game, i called up the glass place...they set up an appointment for the next morning (today)...then i went to work...got home and the intenet was gone...so i paid our past due bill over the phone...it came back on this morning...JUST before i left to go to work...

and that gives somewhat of a segue to the events that transpired early morning today...i woke up early again (though not quite so early, 7:30) and went and got my back window done...now i was a little upset when they first told me it'd be $180 (this is the little vent window in the back...from the same place, Brad's windshield cost the same amount! and recently his regular back window was smashed and he got that same amount again...for that they told him it had something to do with tempered glass...for my tiny tiny window they said something about it coming in a metal casing...) but anyway it got fixed (it's been so fucking long i can barely remember before it got fucked up) AND to top it off, whovever it was that put in the new window also just fixed the latch on my door so i got to my car and my door was actually CLOSED! at first i was scared to open it in fear that i wouldn't be able to get it shut again, but i did and there was the latch all pointing in the normal direction...now i feel a little bad for my attempts at breaking it (in the process i took out some of the rubber sheath that covers the metal on the latch, oh well)...after that i recanted my angry throughts of how expensive the glass was 'cuz they were nice and at least saved me $100 on something that didn't even have to do with their job...i think the latch just got turned around (a theory of mine, but was unable to correct with my limited number of tools, namely a screwdriver and a hammer...) it feels weird not having an exposed hole leading to the inner sanctum of my automobile, but an adjustment i think i can deal with...well yeah, i guess now i get to wake up early on monday to do the inspection and finish the crap i need to do for the title...and i guess while i'm on a role with all this shit i should find out about getting the air conditioner working again...especially as it's getting all hot and shit now...at least my car should be ready for the inspection...unless my broken trunk poses a problem, i really don't see any reason why it SHOULD...but when beaurocracy gets thrown into the mix "should" and "makes logical sense" etc get a little blurred from whatever meaning you think they "should" or would "make logical sense for them to" have...but i don't guess i'm too worried about it, otherwise i'd probably be doing something about it...yeah...

oh yeah...and i got some stuff in the mail today!!! actually they first came on wednesday, but i missed the initial ups notification...but anyway, i now have my new 6 boom mic stands, 10 20' xlr-to-xlr cables, and decent set of headphones!!! i guess that officially makes me a studio or something...having the necessary boring stuff to match all the fun stuff i've already had...ra ra ra...
