ateolf: (Knoxville Boi)
good morning...i've actually just woken up...crazy! yesterday, Justin and i continued our adventure to find the abandoned air field...this time we did find it without any trouble...it turns out last time, we were actually several miles off...we got mixed up 'cuz we had used "Covington Pike" as our reference street...though it turns out getting to the place we crossed 3 different Covington Pikes up north of Raleigh...(and you could say we crossed 4, counting the one in Memphis...) where we parked was a little out of the way from where we'll know to do so next time...but that's okay...we ended up having to cross this big ditch and a large, fallow corn field...complete with dry, pointy corn husks...but there was the abandoned air field in the middle of it...we also found out it's currently being used as an rc-plane field...the intersection of the landing strips in the middle had been repaved...actually the whole thing is somewhat kept up...almost all of the actual tarmac of the outlying circle of the strip is gone (there's bits of gravel in some parts) but it is mowed and kempt in the shape of the air field...at any rate it's pretty darned cool...and i've had a revelation...it's my mission to set up a show there at some point in the future...like the Gila Monster Jamboree in LA...like uh, if i set it up, they will come...i had been up since 6pm the day before and i attempted staying up 'til my stories came on...i did fall asleep around 4pm yesterday but woke up from my alarm for The Simpsons...however, i couldn't keep awake and fell asleep again trying to watch...oh well...i was a sleepy boy...

an apology

this morning i realized that when i posted that quiz yesterday, i said that infinity is a number...and i somehow managed to get a degree in math...i'll blame it on the fact that i had been awake for over 21 hours when i said it...
ateolf: (me and Leala)
today i bought two reels (as in tape for recording) as well as two more cable snakes (to connect the mixer to the recorder...now all tracks are accounted for...instead of the half that i've been running on...they also only cost about half as much as the first time i bought them!) i also finished reading Psychotic Reactions and Carburetor Dung by Lester Bangs...this coincides with the fact that i started reading 3001: the Final Odyssey by Arthur C. Clarke...later on i went to some pawn shops, mostly in search of condenser microphones...or anything else that might be cool...didn't find anything music-related but at one i ended up getting Man on the Moon dvd...i also swung by Legba where i got:
Ornette Coleman: Love Call
as an extra bonus, the rhythm section is Jimmy Garrison and Elvin Jones (half of Coltrane's "classic" quartet...on top of Elvin Jones being one of the best drummers ever...) then to Lastchance:
Country Teasers: Destroy All Human Life
The Cure: Fascination Street single
Leonard Cohen: New Skin for the Old Ceremony
and whilst purchasing, Larry knocked off a dollar on the Cure cd since it was a single...rockin' dude, he is...after all that i went over to Jacques/Amber's where we watched Return of the Living Dead and Biozombie...two fine pieces of cinema, the latter being especially brilliant...towards the end of the second movie Paul and Shawna came over...then everyone was gonna go eat, but i was tired so i came home...thus bringing the story full circle...or something...
