ateolf: (me and Leala)
class was cancelled today due to all the ice and crap on the roads and whatnot...they haven't said when they'll reschedule the exams...oh well...i get to sleep longer and not drive and stuff...but while i'm procrastinating sleep on the internet i'll use this time to update the events of yesterday...
i went over to Justin's and accompanied him to get his new distortion pedal (which, as i informed him, he doesn't need...) we went to 2 pawn shops that sucked and then to the real destination of Consignment...i think they almost know me by name there, which is sort of sad on my part...no wait, it's cool, i spend all my money on guitars...i'm COOL...he ended up getting this Boss super overdrive pedal thingie...(though, as i told him and mentioned a few sentences ago, he didn't need it...) back at his apartment where we watched his Dragonball Z (a show he's obsessed w/ and i care nothing about...) and then The Simpsons...i also showed him that his amp DOES get distortion by switching channels and playing w/ the pre and post knobs (which ARE gain which IS distortion...) not to sound like i'm bashing him...he's an aight dude, as oblivious to the obvious as he can sometimes be...it was funny at the music store 'cuz he'd be asking questions like "is this knob tone?" no, Justin, that's level, as it says right above the knob, the knob next to it, that says tone, is tone...when i showed him how to get his amp to distort w/out the use of a pedal he was like (laughing) "wow...if i had taken the time to actually sit here and figure it out i prob'ly wouldn't've bought this pedal..." but that's okay, don't listen to ME when i tell you a hundred times you don't need a distortion pedal...oh well, i'm rambling on far too much about this, making it seem like it could be some sort of big deal when it's really just a minor point of amusement...but i guess there's not much else to amuse me at the moment...then i went to The Apartment where i kicked it w/ David...we returned the videos to Black Lodge and got two more...i don't remember either's name...then we ate at the Audobon Cafe...i got the same thing as last time but fried corn on the cob instead of mashed potatos...oh it was tasty...back to The Apartment where we watched one of the movies...i forget the name but it was about hockey and it starred Paul Newman...it was a comedy and from the 70s...pretty funny...i won't go into it in detail or anything but i enjoyed it...then i went home, went to sleep, woke up, took a shower, got dressed, and started to leave for school when they finally announced that UofM's classes were cancelled "EXAMS PPD"...so here i am...i guess i'll go back to sleep now...

lessee...not much...after waking up i decided to make a mixed tape for Jenna as everyone else has...but mine's just a best of Sonic Youth sort of thing...i put as many of their greater moments as i could fit on a two hour tape...she might hate it she might not...i dunno...don't care either...i just like making mixed tapes, and i kind've had a hankerin' to make a big SY tape...not that anyone cares, but here's the track listing:
side one:
Anagrama
Tuff Gnarl
Stereo Sanctity
The Sprawl
'Cross the Breeze
Hey Joni
The Burning Spear
Karen Koltrane
(She's in a) Bad Mood
Inhuman
Tokyo Eye
side two:
Free City Rhymes
Intro/Brave Men Run (in My Family)
Marilyn Moore
Expressway to Yr Skull
Skip Tracer
The Diamond Sea
JC
Mote
Brother James
there's so much more i would've liked to have been able to put on, but that's aight...it's great that they have so much great stuff! oh well...i at least tried to get something from every album, and i did...so that's all about that...later i ran a few errands for my parents...my car was completely covered in ice...'cuz it's all icy and stuff...fun driving...then i watched The Simpsons and here i am...la de da de da...and stuff...

As you've already noticed, this is Amy Vega, the girl
who's compiling the Free Kitten Tribute....

I don't know how this happened, but the both of you
ended up covering strawberry milk :) Now I'm sure
this is my fault, but I have some options for you two
to choose from.

I am MORE than willing to put both versions of SM on
the tribute, each of them are incredibly different
from each other (graham's neilyoung-esque folk
version, robert's slow droning jazzy version) so there
would be no problem for me to put both of them
on...the only question I have is with you two...do you
guys mind using both versions? I can either put both
on if it's no problem, or if one of you is not happy
w/this, you can do another song and send it via mp3 so
you won't have to waste more post office $$

Again, I apologize greatly about this, and am very
sorry!

Please write me back and tell me what you think..

I'm realllly sorry about this...the graham guy that
sent it in emailed me back in october, and I emailed
him back to confirm his submission but I never heard
from him again so I took him off the list and gave the
song to you...
and then today I get his submission...I was literally
puzzled on why he sent it, I hadn't even remembered it
was him til I thought about it...anyway I apologize,
and if it'll make you feel better, your version really
kicks more ass :)
