Something I missed, I believe it was Tuesday we went to this museum in Tremé called Backstreet Cultural Museum. It's mostly about the "Mardi Gras" Indians and has lots of those costumes and a lot of information about their krewes and such (I put "Mardi Gras" in quotes because they don't actually go in any of the official Mardi Gras pradades...the tour guide kinda put it in air quotes when she talked about it). There was also a bit about the Tremé district itself. They had some videos just kind of running on a playlist and we ended by watching this one documentary about gentrification and the decline of Tremé that was interesting. Also, came home to wires hanging REALLY low across the parking lot. It's the same wires that had hung low before years ago but they're hanging even lower now. They're only still attached to the side of the building because a vine is clinging to them and holding them on. I don't think they're power lines, I think they're phone/internet/etc. lines. Hopefully it gets addressed soon. At its lowest place, you couldn't drive your car underneath without at the very least brushing against it, I think. Anyway, off to another day.
