During my lunch break we did the Fresh Market grocery run. Later in the afternoon I finished reading Man or Mango? by Lucy Ellmann. It was good, there are some very good parts though overall it doesn't cohere as well as or feel as developed as the other book her hers I've read, still good though. In the evening Mary Beth and I went back to Paradiso for the Met Opera stream of their performance of Salome by Richard Strauss. It was really good. I wasn't too familiar with Strauss's works other than THAT ONE THAT EVERYONE KNOWS, and the music was very good (and VERY much what you might expect from an opera written by the guy that wrote everyone's favorite timpani part!). Also, you obviously know this, but the Met sure has one hell of a budget! It's completely bombastic production-wise to have a two-story stage that elevates up and down for the different scenes, but I will say it was a nice effect when they go from one level to the other and are walking down the narrow stairs while the stage is rising to bring up the lower level.
