In the morning I finished reading The Hard Life by Flann O'Brien. It was pretty good, not his best, but it had lots of funny moments. Then in the afternoon I went and met Jacques at Will's and we picked up all the scrap metal and brought it over to Graham's place. He has a nice practice space over his garage. I wasn't sure how well the setup would work, but then everything so far seems to have worked out very well setup-wise. I got six sawhorses and set up the two big sheets on two sawhorses each with the smaller sheet propped up between them. Then the remaining two sawhorses are holding up the two eight foot wood boards which have four of the radiator-looking pieces laid out on top of the boards. Then the big round piece I have on my snare stand. And the two tubes I have hanging from twine suspended from two cymbal stands. I was a little worried, especially about the two long wooden beams holding up (and the sheet metal just staying on the sawhorses) but from our test run it all seems to be working great. And setup and teardown don't seem to take too long. Great! I came back home and Mary Beth was out on a walk so I went out and met her, walking a little bit. Then later I fixed a couple things with my click track setup. I hadn't been able to get the "Analog 1-2" outputs to have any sound and after some troubleshooting I figured out that the volume was turned down on the audio interface box itself (it has a bit of an inscrutable menu). Also, the outputs are grouped in pairs (Analog 1-2, 3-4, 5-6, 7-8, as well as Main 1-2) and now that I know that there will be groups of three musicians for each part, I needed to be able to split them to have groups of three. Anyway, it's not intuitive but I figured that out as well so I've got it set up exactly how I want it. Woo. (But we'll see how it goes when everyone is there using it...)
