My mom's memorial service was yesterday in the early afternoon. I squeezed into my no-longer-fitting suit and Mary Beth and I went out to it. It was at the church near my parents' house. They have a memorial garden with columbaria on the grounds and the short service was held there. There was a lot of family there and family friends. Afterwards there was a meet-up at the Commissary in Collierville (which I didn't know existed but makes sense given how small and cramped the original location is...in a charming way, but still see why they'd expand). My parents' house was on the way so I stopped by and changed out of my suit that felt like it was ready to bust off its button extenders any minute. So we went over there and ate some barbecue and talked a little to some relatives we hadn't seen in a long time. (I was also a pig and ate too much of the buffet.) Yesterday I also got the Throbbing Gristle: TG Berlin box set in the mail. Today there's finally no more snow left. Yesterday there was just a little bit and it was almost kinda warm (which made it a fortuitous day to have the outdoors service).
