The Colonoscopy

So went and had the colonoscopy yesterday. Mary Beth and I took a lyft down to the clinic. (First we showed up at the wrong office, a cancer office, because it's in front and the one I was looking for is suite b behind it.) The receptionist in front was all grouchy and talking about wanting to throw the phone out the window (which is funny), but then the intake nurse was the friendliest person ever. Though she did seem shocked when we told her we planned to go to IHOP to eat after it. She was talking up all the bougier brunch places (though also I don't know who'd be doing brunch on a Wednesday afternoon if we'd wanted it?...and also when we mentioned we're in midtown she mentioned brunch at Cafe Olé as well, which is like...wha!? for those not in Memphis, Cafe Olé has the big mystery of how it's stayed in business longer than anything else when it's so very not good at anything). Anyway, I get wheeled off, put under and then I'm back in the little room cubicle with Mary Beth. I didn't take too long to get back to consciousness. My brain was immediately back to normal but my body was a little distant for a little bit. The doctor said he found and removed one polyp (which is normal) that's benign but then they'll run tests to see if it's the kind of thing that wouldn't ever be anything or eventually could have become something and that will determine how long til my next one I guess. So we got another lyft back to the IHOP near our house and I ate a huge thing. The medication did well in keeping me from really feeling too hungry throughout it, but when the food came, I was ready for it! We walked back home and I felt full for the rest of the day. In the evening, Mary Beth and I went on a walk around the neighborhood. At night I passed some time by watching more Simpsons. Now it's back to work for a couple days.
