South Main Soundscapes
Jun. 6th, 2024 07:58 amMary Beth and I went to see a show last night at South Main Sounds. Never been there before, but it's in that little strip of shops attached to The Arcade. It was a good show. It was pretty packed for a mostly ambient sort of thing. First up was Tamar Love who plays cello into loops and stuff and that was quite good. Then it was Taj Chander. So he's someone I have met before and kind of know (though I don't see him around often), but as soon as we walked in he came up and said "Hi, I'm Taj." The name I know him as is Matt so when he introduced himself and said that I thought he said "I'm Todd" and I was like, oh, this isn't who I thought it was so I introduced myself back. But then it's like we do kinda know each other and I realize he'd said his performing name "Taj" and not "Todd" so I felt slightly dumb but it was fine. Anyway, his set was also good. He had some ambient sounds on a laptop and played in rotation, reciting poetry, harmonium, and gongs. Last it was Infanta Silhouette (that's Linda Heck!) and her set was great, very ambient (at times hitting some classic Eno sounds pretty hard). She also had ambiance on a laptop and sometimes played a synth with it and it was really nice. Saw some people and chatted a lil bit and such. Okay that's about it.
