ateolf: (the goat...BITCH!)

It was a fun day yesterday. Though the earliest thing of mention is finally scheduling a fuckin' colonoscopy. This is after a mix of me procrastinating and playing phone tag with the doctor's office, but finally got in touch and got it scheduled. Not looking forward to all that though!

Okay, but on to the fun stuff! I played a show at DKDC. I did a little more practice in the afternoon early on. Not much, just played with the Liberation for a little bit to make sure I had a feel for getting the sounds I wanted, just a few minutes really. I think it was a little helpful. I felt more confident on it. Then up to DKDC. I arrived about the same time as Jacques. Corbin had told us we could park on the side lot but we get there and there are signs for pay-to-park. We go in and ask and yeah, we were told they like booting cars in there so after loading we went and found some street parking. Exciting! But yeah, there was a show. Saw a good number of friends (and acquaintances) there (David, Amy, Ben, Betsy, Mark, Will, Will, Zoe). It wasn't a huge crowd but I actually thought I had a pretty decent crowd during my set. So yeah, given the short notice and that I was already playing another show the week before I didn't feel I'd have time to get a patch together for it. Also, given that DKDC is a small space (we'd be sharing with General Labor who have a lot of stuff!) I thought I'd got for a small footprint, and what better way to achieve that than by breaking out the Moog Liberation! I already talked about the breaking it out so I'll skip repeating all that. But I had that and on a little stand I had that varispeed cassette player with the footswitch (on which, as I'd mentioned before, I collaged a bunch of myself playing different sounds on the Prophet). Those are both going into my little mixer which I had an effects send to a Moog delay pedal (mostly I kept the tape with delay and the synth without, but I'd mix that up some). Anyway, it's fun to play the Liberation! And my shoulder didn't ever hurt again either! I think it was a crowd-pleaser, people like seeing novel instruments like that! (I don't blame them, I would too.) I was all, people are going to find this obnoxious, but it got a good response. It helps that I think most of the people that were there were friends and such. Revenge Body was next and his set was awesome and loud! Then General Labor was last. They went for a slightly streamlined setup this time. I mean, still a lot of stuff, but Corbin left off one synth so had his modular in the rack and they didn't mess with their own pa. They were really awesome. I dunno, fun show. I'd never played DKDC so that's fun to cross off the list. Not sure how much they'd ever want me back! I got a shirt from General Labor. I think Corbin said some nice things about me during their set though his mic has a lot of delay on it and hard to be sure, hah! I feel like there's probably something else I should say but I can't think of nothin'.
