Old Synthesist
May. 16th, 2024 08:03 amI had another (SMALL) "interaction" with Six Finger Satellite on instagram. I'd posted a version of my Moog Liberation picture (a cropped version with my head cut off) and Six Finger Satellite liked it. And this time it wasn't even directly related to them (though the Liberation is, of course, very indirectly related!). Anyway, that's a small fun and dorky fact. I ended up having to do a deployment last night. Hadn't even seen it on the calendar until yesterday morning (though the invite was sent last week). It had a crazy huge amount of time blocked off but it all wasn't needed. I was able to practice some more on my set (for the show that's tomorrow!) and keep getting a better handle on getting the Liberation's sounds out of it more immediately. Also I was having a whole ton of fun playing it. I'd started to set up the delay pedal on the floor with expression pedals but I realized with constantly using the footswitch to control the cassette player, that was too much to do with my feet. I made some space for the delay on the stand and things are working much better and I can just control it with my hand. So yeah, I practiced a good while. Then I'm hot and take a break to cool off and drink some water, thinking I'll go back and practice some more. Well, having the giant-ass synth strapped to my shoulder for so long, after a few minutes of taking a break my shoulder got sore as FUCK! I was definitely done for the night. I sat with an icepack on it watching Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman with Mary Beth. I was worried it would be hurting for a while, but it's better this morning. I just need to be cognizant of how long I have it strapped on at a time, I think.
