Yesterday I finished reading The Discovery of Heaven by Harry Mulisch. It was okay. It was way too long; the writing was a bit on the bland side; the religious got a bit tedious at the end; I think it was relying on thinking its characters were more interesting than they were; its "ideas" (in that it has been hailed as a "novel of ideas") were kinda superficial. I mean, I didn't hate it, I said it was "okay" I guess it's just easiest to air out my complaints. It definitely would have been better if it was trimmed to about a quarter of its length (hey, I mean, some of my favorite books are long-ass tomes, but this one REALLY did not NEED to be so long). Okay, later in the evening I went to my parents' house to give my dad his Father's Day gift (late, yes, because of the festival last weekend). I didn't stay too long 'cuz he had to do some church stuff shortly. I also got to see my mom, Anthony, and Christina. I hung out a little bit. On the way home I stopped by Winchester Farmers Market to pick up some Mexicoke and look for sundry other items I couldn't find. I guess that's about it and now it's back to work.
